Capitalism and Culture (Ch. 23)

Experiencing the Anthropocene:

As called by scientist and other scholars, the anthropocene is the age in when humans are in charge of it all. Humans are currently impacting our environment (negatively in my opinion) and our future generations are whom will pay the prices. The major contributing factor has been the increase of population in the past 100 years which led to more demanding more from mother nature to fulfill our needs (food).

The second cause to this new era is our insist on digging up natural resources such as coal and oil in order to fulfill our desire for automobile.

Last but definitely not least is the gap between the rich and the poor. Gentrification is common as we are currently living it in the Bay Area. More and more people are becoming homeless each day and its not lack to jobs but simply because the rich are tearing down building, investing and revamping building making rent skyrocket. Plants, and animals are either disappearing or endangered due to their natural environment being disturbed.
